Rail master plan underway

The central tasks of the rail master plan include:

  • Designing rail and rail structures, in addition to road, street, station and feeder traffic planning so that area reservations, land redemptions and reservations for tunnel right of use can be made based on the plans
  • Defining the construction costs
  • Planning tunnel structures, technical systems and tunnel safety with such an
accuracy that will allow the making of the final construction plans
  • Defining environmental risks (vibration, noise, ground water, nature, objects of
protection) according to previous plans and planning necessary measures in order to minimize risks

The rail master plan will define the technical, operational and environmental solutions in such detail that area reservations, impacts and costs of the Ring Rail Line can be estimated with the accuracy that land use planning, redemption procedure, permit procurement and budgeting requires.

The rail master plan will be finished by the end of March 2008.

The acquisition strategy of Ring Rail Line is being created
Possible acquisition models are being considered at an "acquisition clinic" of The Finnish Association of Building Owners and Construction Clients (RAKLI). The Ring Rail Line was chosen to be an object of dialogue and development because it is a current and versatile project. Through the acquisition clinic the orderer will have a dialogue concerning the implementation with the actors in the industry. The objective is to come up with an acquisition model that would ensure the pursued end result with an appropriate cost and making most of the know-how available.
